| i've alwaes loved to own a pet. small, furry and cute. and those which makes soft noises. cats, hamsters, rabbits, rats... but i never did have the chance. ibu is really terrified of cats. hamsters, rabbits and rats all had cages which needed regular cleaning. nana? she's squirmish of everything. so i never owned one. we did own two twin terrapins back then when we were still staying at bukit panjang. that was so many years ago. 10 years? one was didi and the other dodo. we never had a chance to watch both the terrapins grow up. didi died of a disease. nana and i went to the field at the back of our house to burry it. by that time, ibu found it troublesome to take care of dodo. its tank needed constant cleaning, its feeding times had to be precise. so ibu decided to bring it to her school. fuchun primary sch had a pond. not long after, syahir requested for the terrapin, so dodo belonged to him for a short period of time. dodo grew up to be so big that there was no space for it in the tank. he decided to release it at the little guilin. when we go there, we would still look out for that terrapin with a large yellow X on dodo's shell which syahir marked. but we never found it. truthfully, terrapins were boring to me. so are fishes. u cudnt cuddle or stroke them. they dont even make a sound. maybe except for the constant splashing of water in their pathetic tanks. but bapak got a pond for his koi fishes. complete with a water fountain which is left on for 24hrs. nenek came over todae. she peered into our pond and realised that one of the koi is bearing. the other fishes seemed to be tagging it, constantly biting on its bulging tummy. according to her, once the koi gives birth, the other fishes will fight to eat the young. even their own mother will do that. so bapak had already separated that koi and we're just waiting for her to deliver her young. im still waiting whether koi fishes give birth to its young alive, or they lay eggs. someone has to be on watch almost throughout the nite to ensure that the mother doesnt eat her young. and my dearest father is sleeping right next to his beloved pond of koi, gladly to be on watch. |
